There was a discussion a few days ago about some Eagles that were not really Eagles. I found the web site that markets them. They have some that are numbered in sequence too like a serial number. Kinda cool for those looking for something like that.

Some other nicer looking rounds there too. Not too bad prices for those looking for other stuff. Just silver to me mostly. 1 oz rounds are 1 oz rounds unless someone is looking for something else. If that were the case for me, I would look to American Silver Eagles then, the old reliable and still my favorite.

These are nice looking generic silver rounds. The 'eagles' should not be confused with SAE's minted by the US government. It bothers me a little that they seem to be trying to deceive buyers who might think these are SAE's, but if that's understood they are still 1 ozt .999 silver.

I personally like the wide variety of generic silver, and they offer some nice looking rounds. These are a bit more expensive that the generic category out of the BD catalog or nucleo, but the choice of pattern might be worth it to you. I've gotten many similar designs buying from the generic category, but I've also gotten many 'Merry Christmas 1983' types. While I've never seen PM I didn't like, I like some a lot more than others.

Note: With the other 'great deal' on these rounds the shipping turned out to be exorbitant. I didn't check the S&H at this site, but you might want to be careful.

I feel that using the exact same design as the American Silver Eagle front and back is asking for problems later. I wouldn't want them.

As for the shipping, I found the shipping table on the web site. It is based on sale price, not weight.

$1.00 - $50.00 $5.75
$50.01 - $300.00 $10.75
$300.01 - $1000.00 $14.99
$1,000.01 $10,000.00 $24.95
$10,000.01- $50,000.00 $29.95

Okay, curiosity got the best of me so I ordered some of these to see how they look in real life. I will tell you how they look when they arrive.

Good Morning Evertbody,

My "eagles" came in yesterday. Here is my take on them. They are not as fine a stamp as the real Eagles. Not as crisp and pretty. But, you shouldn't buy Cold Duck expecting fine Champagne. They are still nice though, so don't get me wrong. And, they have a serial number that is sequentially numbered in order of stamping that gives an image of collectability. In my estimation, silver is silver as long as it is proper. My money would still be spent on Eagles before I would buy more of these though, they are just not the real thing.

The picture on the website looks a LOT like ASE's. I agree with those that are concerned about confusion. It might be fine to have a couple of them but I would be very cautious about having too many. That being said, I would get bored if I only had one type of silver. :D

Me too. I like to buy stuff just because it catches my eye. Like Kev said: there are alot of designs out there and you sync, it would get boring without them.

And for now there will no longer be any new ASE's.

To be clear, there will still be bullion AGE and ASE, from the US mint site:
http://www.usmint.gov/pressroom/index.c ... se&ID=1070
Quote:
Because of unprecedented demand for American Eagle Gold and Silver Bullion Coins, the United States Mint suspended production of 2009 proof and uncirculated versions of these coins. All available 22-karat gold and silver bullion blanks are being allocated to the American Eagle Gold and American Eagle Silver Bullion Coin Programs, as mandated by Public Law 99-185 and Public Law 99-61, respectively.
It's the 'proof' and 'uncirculated' versions which will not be produced in 2009.
