Damn Woodie! You put it to words. I have been thinking the same, just higher prices in the silver department. Let's go on to 2012, shall we? Obama loses to a conservative opponent in the elections. The US will swing way to the right (good or bad, it makes no difference in the long run) Israel continues with the saber rattling with the Arab nations, exchanging fire and bloodshed. The European nations get into the mix, forcing the US hand (remember how Americans are when they are stirred up?). China and Russia (weird, but this my prediction...) form an alliance against the US and Western Europe with the Eastern Block nations mixed on which side they are on, and the next world war begins. There is a major nuclear exchange beginning in Iran; set off by terrorists and a great devastation occurs. The damage is mostly in the middle east, but many warheads are set off over Europe, Russia, China, and the US. The third world nations begin to rise and being the only ones relatively unscathed, take control of the situation and begin rebuilding. Hold on to your PM folks, because that is all the rage now as far as money is concerned. Those of us that survive over here in the west will need to learn Spanish, but we will all be part of a new beginning. Did you invest in lead and steal? Or did you get a nice cross bow? That is the only way to protect your family now. You will have to shoot the bastards that come to steal your food. They will be hungry too!

Scary Sh*t!

Prediction...

We need you to do the patriotic thing and spend the economy back into prosperity!

Since your homes are now devalued by 35% and you are upside down on your 1st and 2nd mortgage we've come up with a new way to finance your spending!

Wall St. in cooperation with The Fed introduces a new colateralized debt instrument called M.U.T.
It stands for Mortgage yoUr Toddler!

Just place your kids up as colateral and you can have a fresh bankroll to go out and get that New Ford Tarus SHO you've always wanted!

And they said the good old days would not return...HA!

Thanks. Yeah- hope you're right about the silver prices being higher, for sure!
That's an interesting 2012 scenario, it's both disturbing and plausible.
We better enjoy ourselves the next year or two, because it will have to tide us over for a while!

Just don't over do it. Having fun is great, just too much plenty no good!

I predict that the level of Inflation in China is matched by the level of Deflation in the United States...which presents an interesting paradox. The Chinese Inflation would cause the price of Gold to rise [as well as the cost of products, goods and services]...while the US Deflation may not have enough influence to counteract the rise...it might actually be that Gold could, in this situation, be a good "investment"

Too true, too true. I have been wondering about how that could come about. Makes sense.

An article I read today was talking about how China is still trying to peg it's currency to the dollar. This "manipulation" (which is stupid and yet smart) will allow for the dollar to continue it's slow decline as we continue to export some of our paper currency to China in exchange for their tangible goods. This of course will allow them to continue to buy whatever they want from us which is not in our best interests but what can we say?

We are China's largest trading partner. Right now it is still in their best interests to pay our bills for us and they will do so until they own enough of us to no longer care what we think. Please note I think they are already getting close to this point. While I do expect them to change their support of the dollar thinking in the next few years for now I expect it to continue for at least another year or so. They will continue to accept their "paper" losses in order to continue buying real assets from us and the rest of the world using their national reserves. Got gold and silver?

Right, but China lending to us so we can buy from them never made sense to me. This is an oversimplification, but it seems similar to a situation where I own a store and the Smiths from down the street are my biggest customers. But the Smiths run out of money, so to help keep them buying from me, I'm going to lend them money, because if I don't lend them money, they'll go bankrupt and stop buying from me. It seems ridiculous - doesn't it?
Same type of logic for the Gov't Stimulus package to help create jobs. To me, that's like my kids losing their jobs. So, in order that they be employed again, I take out a big loan and hire them myself! Now they're employed, so everything is OK. Except, I'm in the hole, and as soon as my stimulus money for them runs out, we're all screwed :(

Not if you can print your own currency and everyone else has to use it.

Keep in mind they are using the money they are getting from us to buy REAL tangible assets ie. companies, technology and means of production. They can "lose" in the short term to win big in the long term. They "own" us in more ways than we can count. All they had to do was sell us some trinkets (while building their manufacturing base) and loan us a few electronic digits. Got gold and silver? Sincerely, John Leckrone

My prediction is that one year from now, each of us on this thread will have a little bit more gold and silver, and every one of us will still be complaining about whatever we are complaining about right now.

My predictions:

by the end of 2010: $85/oz on Silver.

by the end of 2011: $150 on Silver.

by the end of 2012: $200 on Silver.

if the world doesn't implode in 2012, lol... we will see Silver surpass Gold in price when the rest of the world slowly realizes that Silver is more valuable then Gold in many ways....

It'll sort of be like looking back and saying... remember when man thought the world was flat? lol...

Silver is less abundant, and more useful. Period.

Ambitious predictions, dude. It would be funny though.

Sounds like a fun poll. I think we are headed for a peak and another crash this time around. Hoping for another year of this before we are in the hyperinflation. That is when our PM will be important.
